What happened?
On September 5, 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that India has been sharing high flood data with Pakistan through its High Commission in Islamabad and other diplomatic channels as a humanitarian measure. On August 26, Indian officials had already conveyed advance information about possible flooding, stressing that the move was based solely on humanitarian considerations. The assistance comes as Pakistan faces a severe flood crisis caused by heavy monsoon rains, flash floods, and glacial lake outbursts, which have claimed over 800 lives and affected more than 1.2 million people. Infrastructure and agricultural damage is mounting, with estimated losses reaching USD 50 billion.
