As we proudly present the sixth issue of India’s World, we feel a strong sense of fulfilment, satisfaction, and gratitude for the not-so-easy journey we have undertaken over the past year. India’s World was born out of a deep belief in the power of stories—stories about India and its relationship with the world. For me and my team, India’s World has become more than just a publication; it’s a shared dream, nurtured by the passion of our contributors and readers who believe in our ability to narrate the story of this complex, beautiful, and diverse place called India.

When we began in December last year, our goal was simple: to be among those who carry India’s voice to the world. Today, six issues and twelve months later, we are proud to have fulfilled that aspiration in our own modest way. Over the past year, we have explored India’s geopolitical shifts, its cultural connections with the world, its diplomatic history, and its dreams for the future.

This issue is dedicated to India’s Defence Industry. From discussions on defence modernisation and indigenous innovations like the Tejas fighter to India’s expanding global diplomacy, our goal is to provide our readers with comprehensive analyses and diverse perspectives. Articles by Gen. D.S. Hooda, Air Marshal Diptendu Choudhury, and Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, among others, aim to foster informed debate on India’s defence trajectory and international engagement.

Personally, I have two favourites in this issue: “The Rise of Shillong as an Epicentre for International Concerts” by Banshanlang Marwein and “The L1 Puzzle” by Dinakar Peri. Both capture the different stories India tells—its cultural vibrancy and complex security challenges.

As we step into another year, we want to thank each of you who has supported us along this journey. Your curiosity, support, and trust make this endeavour both possible and meaningful. Here’s to many more issues, more stories, and more conversations about India’s World.

I am deeply grateful for your feedback, comments, and, of course, your subscriptions. A few months ago, I met CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on an overnight train from Warsaw to Kyiv. We happened to share a compartment, and I handed him a copy of India’s World. The next morning, he approached me to say he loved the magazine, especially the article about Girja Shankar Bajpai’s visit to the U.S. in 1922. There’s nothing more encouraging than hearing such words of appreciation.

From January 2026, India’s World will become a monthly magazine. We look forward to your support and feedback as we embark on this new chapter.
