In February 2025, Ed Sheeran rocked the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong before a crowd of over 30,000. This wasn’t just another international concert; it marked yet another milestone in the city’s growing recognition as a global hub for live music.

While India’s musical spotlight often shines on big cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai, Shillong has quietly carved out its own place by doing what its people love most: making and celebrating music.  For over two decades, the city has hosted international concerts that might surprise many outside the region. Yet, its spirited crowds and infectious energy have drawn both local and global acts.  Major artists and bands such as MLTR, Smokie, Eric Martin (of Mr Big fame), Sepultura, Firehouse, Scorpions, Ed Sheeran, Bryan Adams, Akon, Boney M, Europe, Kingston, Ne-Yo have all performed in Meghalaya.
