What happened:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Johannesburg from November 21 to 23 to attend the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit hosted by South Africa, the Ministry of External Affairs said. This will be the fourth consecutive G20 Summit held in the Global South.
Why it matters to India:
At the Summit, PM Modi will present India’s perspectives across all three sessions, covering inclusive economic growth, trade, development finance, disaster risk reduction, climate change, just energy transitions, critical minerals, AI, and decent work. On the sidelines, he is expected to hold bilateral meetings and participate in the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Leaders’ Meeting, reinforcing India’s engagement in global economic and strategic discussions.
