What happened
On October 7–9, 2025, the Tamil Nadu government will host the Aerospace and Defence Meetings (ADM) at the Chennai Trade Centre to accelerate the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor (TNDIC). The state aims to attract Rs 75,000 crore in investment and contribute 50 per cent of India’s defence production by 2032. Over 300 companies and 1,000 delegates are expected, including major global and domestic players such as Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, Safran, Tata Group, BEL, HAL, and DRDO. Participants from 16 countries, including the US, France, Germany, Japan, and Singapore, will attend.
Why it matters to India
The event strengthens India’s defence self-reliance by encouraging indigenisation, global supply chain integration, and public–private collaboration. With defence exports already at a record Rs 23,622 crore in FY25, Tamil Nadu’s push for a larger role in aerospace and defence manufacturing underlines India’s strategy to emerge as a global hub for defence production.
