Ruchira Kamboj, a 1987 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, served as India’s first woman Permanent Representative to the United Nations and presided over the UN Security Council in December 2022. She was also India’s first woman Chief of Protocol and held ambassadorial postings in Bhutan, South Africa and UNESCO.
