Nirupama Rao is a former Indian Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to the United States, China, and Sri Lanka. A distinguished diplomat, she has held academic appointments at Brown and Columbia Universities and is the author of The Fractured Himalaya: India, Tibet, China, 1949–1962. She serves on several policy and academic boards and is the Founder-Trustee of the South Asian Symphony Foundation.
