Why it matters to India

Hosting the first Assembly of the International Big Cat Alliance in New Delhi highlights India’s global leadership in wildlife conservation, as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi. This initiative provides a global platform for India to drive international collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical and financial support to protect big cat populations, which is crucial for global biodiversity. The unanimous endorsement of Indian leadership for IBCA and the ratification of foundational documents establish India at the forefront of this critical environmental effort. This alliance strengthens India’s diplomatic influence in environmental governance and reinforces its commitment to safeguarding the planet’s ecological future through collective action.
